Deci-Belle started off with an idea we had after seeing another ‘zine, we had a look through it and thought ‘wow, this is pretty naff’. From there it transpired into conversations of what we would include, why and what would be really interesting about that topic. Hence how Deci-Belle was born. When we started the DIY ‘zine we didn’t think it would get much interest where we are located as it is only a small town with only a handful of punks living here. However, to our surprise the first issue we put out was really popular, we had masses of mail and plenty of feedback on what was good and what wasn’t. We began seeing the ‘zine in places we were travelling to for gigs, so it was a great feeling to know that people had taken it to their town and had given other people the opportunity to read it by putting it around other pubs for us. We were eager to receive every readers feedback on what their thoughts were of our ‘zine. Once we did, we completely changed the ‘zine into what the readers demanded and not what we thought should go into the content. It officially became the readers ‘zine, they got to choose what went in, who they wanted to see or hear about in the content and who we should interview, etc. Now that we have had a few issues out and the demand grew stronger with the continual growth of Deci-Belle, printing costs began rising into silly amounts demanded from our press guy, we decided that we should finally cave in and become available on-line by creating an E- Zine. So as of November 2008, our ‘zine became printed and posted, giving everyone the opportunity to read what other readers have sent to us!
Deci-Belle was created to make people laugh, have a rant and tell everyone what gig’s were happening and today it’s become something of a magazine more than a ‘zine. Deci-Belle is a ‘zine like no other, stuffed full with; Insane Insomniac, Underground Hero, a Gig Guide, Dr. Alco, Graffiti, Band Blast, Jukebox, Rant, Album Review, and heaps more. Pick up a copy and have a look through there is literally something for everyone, no matter what sense of humour you possess there will be one part that will have you pissing your pants laughing, great band interviews from some of the best British bands around as well as some overshores scrum, as well as much more . We all enjoy putting the ‘zine out each month and look forward to people’s feedback on our work!
